I'm on the opposing side of ECFA.
Unlike what Robert said, I think ECFA are the main reason of the rising of unemployment rate, because ECFA will let cheaper Chinese products invading into Taiwan, and the farmers in Taiwan will lose their jobs because they cannot compete with the cheap product from China.
And because of the government has to take care of these unemployed person, the expense of social security will rise as the unemployment rate grows higher. When our government can no longer afford the expense of social security, our economic system will be affected.
This will become a "Vicious Cycle", which will lead to the collapse of Taiwan's economy.

I stand for protecting the rights of these farmers.
Taiwan's economic foundation is based on the export of agriculture product, so the number of farmer are rather high in here. So, what's the importance of these farmers?
First, in the constitution of Taiwan, it's stated clearly that our government should protect our rights. When Chinese products endanger our living, our government should protect us.
Second, if these farmers lost their job, as I mentioned before, the high amount of unemployment rate will lead to high social security expense
Third, nowadays farmers in Taiwan, most of them have secondary jobs. And the economic value of their secondary jobs are always ignored by the government. As you can see at the chart, the yellow line is the number of the farmers who have secondary jobs. their numbers are up to 60 percent, so when the government decided to "eliminate" these farmers, it will bring great impact on our economy. What Robert just mentioned about the "Briefcase Farmers," although they can chose the most profitable product in the market, they are still the most profitable product in the market, they are still the minority side compare to Chinese agriculture products.
Question: If you're buying vegetable, and there are two choice, one is organic but expensive, and the other is plain cheaper. If you just want to feed yourself, which one will you choose?

I am here to bring you the evidence to prove that there is corruption in Taiwanese government, and it can no longer be trusted.
Here, I will bring you Da-Pu incident that revealed the ugly truth in Taiwan. What you see right now is the land that was used to belong to the people in Da-Pu. One day, the InnoLux company came to here and ask 苗栗 county government to collect these land, they want to build a science park. However, as you see on this image, the red part is the lands they truly used to build the science park, and the yellow parts are the land of the farmers. The government just took away their land and done nothing to make up for them. The government collected these lands to fill up their pockets, these lands didn't bring anything that is profitable to our economy, it didn't make our life better. If Capitalism relies on a clean government to work, it will definitely not working in Taiwan.
How can we trust our government if it no longer protects us, and instead, they even violate our right of living. There is corruption in our government, how can we rely on them to help us if they don't care about us anymore?

Our conclusion is that, to strike a balance between the role of government and the social welfares of the people is very hard to decide which one is more important. The government takes the majority's welfares into consideration while the people thinks that the government should never sacrifice the majority. It's a very controversial issue to debate about. However, which one to chose is up to you to decide.
